IT's Time To BEGIN AGAIN

EASTER! GOd's new creation

The good news of Jesus' resurrection both frightens and overjoys Jesus' first disciples, but the message is really quite simple. God raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus is alive, and Jesus will meet us. Jesus meets his first disciples in the evening, when his disciples are locked in fear within their own room. Jesus tells his disciples: "Don't be afraid." He shows them his wounds. He gives them all the blessings of his victory of sin and death. He gives them his peace. He gives them the Holy Spirit to fill their bodies and souls with a breath of life that will sustain them in an eternal life.

In our encounter with the risen and living Jesus, he gives us peace -- peace with God, peace within ourselves, and peace for the whole world under the humble and loving rule and reign of our Lord Jesus Christ. He gives us the Holy Spirit -- the breath of life that joins us in eternal life to the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit, the breath of life that speaks the good news of Jesus Christ, the breath of life that empowers our hearts and hands love and serve in Jesus' name.

In many ways, the good news of Easter is coming to life in a surprising, new and powerful way for us this year. Take heart in this good news: The risen Jesus meets us where we are gathered, in our rooms and homes. The risen Jesus gives us peace. The risen Jesus promises that even in a time when news of death is everywhere, the life Jesus gives has overcome death and given us an eternal life, in fellowship with Jesus and the Heavenly Father in the Spirit. Even in our isolation, we are not alone, but we enjoy the fellowship with God and God's people.
