11/9/2015 0 Comments Bible and BagelsBible and Bagels Meets in New LocationNext gathering: November 11 at 10 a.m. Come out for food, fellowship and a lively discussion as we dig into God's Word. We meet on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. now at our partner church St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 120 Pleasant Ave., Edison. In these next two sessions (November 11 and November 18), Pastor Krombholz will we guide us through the mini-Apocalypse in the Gospel According to St. Mark (Mark 13). We will touch on the themes of the end times, Christ's return, and watchfulness. No experience necessary ... bring an open heart, open mind and a friend if you want. Then, after Thanksgiving (from December 2 through December 16), we will spend three sessions exploring the main features of the Gospel According to St. Luke -- our lectionary Gospel of the Year for most of 2016. For more information, call the church office at (732) 287-0888.

11/2/2015 0 Comments Take it to the Lord in PrayerMonthly Prayer-Support Group Next meeting: Wednesday, November 4, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life." Phil. 4:6-7, The Message Sometimes, we just need to be with a small group of people who simply listen to us without judging or trying to fix anything. In a group like that, we may even find that others can empathize with us because they're facing similar struggles. Each month on a Wednesday night, the church lounge will be open and pastor will be there so that a small group of fellow believers can gather, share their struggles, questions, doubts, as well their joys and triumphs. For the last 20 minutes of the 90 minute session, we will gather what we shared into prayers. Think of it as part support group, part prayer group.
